Possibly. But as the MySQL people have been dismissing the need for 
tranactions for *years*, I'd be inclined to think they're playing
catch-up.

Hmmm... The canonical Why Not MySQL? is too old. Try looking
at http://www.wlug.org.nz/PostgresVsMysql 

PostgreSQL used to be hard to install, thus MySQLs popularity. At 
this point it's as easy as:   apt-get install postgresql 
And RPM based distributions are not much harder. Add a JDBC driver 
and pgAdmin for a graphical frontend and you're all set.
