Consider the following example:
<cfset str = "Hexadecimal coding can be used to convert characters to a hexadecimal equivalant. For example, a space can be represented as %20, or a + sign can be converted to a %2B.">
<cfif reFindNoCase('%[0-9]{2}',str)>
<cfoutput>#urlDecode(str)#</cfoutput>
<cfelse>
<cfoutput>#str#</cfoutput>
</cfif>Although it's a contrived example, it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that something similar could appear in a real string.

Why worry
Just decode it
if its encoded it will decode the string. If not it wont hurt it

something like:
<CFSCRIPT> function IsURLEncoded(text) { if (REFind("%[0-9]{2}",text)) return true; return false; } </CFSCRIPT>

hey all -
Anyone know a nifty way to tell if a string is URL Encoded or not?
I'm drawing blanks.
Just getting some data from an external source, and SOME of it will need to be decoded ,and some won't be, the rules of which are slightly haphazard, so I thought if i could tell if a string was encoded, I could subsequently decode it.
TIA
