CVS also has some great free add-ons like Bonsai which is a web-based reporting tool (so you can get reports of who checked in what changes very easily, amongst other things). Then there's stuff like Tinderbox which can interact with CVS to create 'builds' automatically on multiple systems and manage build status reports based on automated test suites etc.
