If you're running CF5 it may be that the Verity installation is not modern enough to recognise certain office documents -- and from memory CF5/Linux/Verity does not do PDF.

it did this for EVERY file I have tried to index - even making a new
collection didn't work.
aside from this, CF runs perfectly...
any ideas?
