I actually, very rarly use customtags anymore. If i need to include
something, its usually not in the same directory or what I am including is
accessed by a coldfusion mapping, so i use CFMODULE. I still get the
flexability of code reuse and passing in attributes, but the file doesnt
have to be in the same directory as the one I am working in, unless you put
it in the customtags directory, which you usually cant do in shared hosting
environments.

The handy thing about CFINCLUDE is that if you set a local variable in your
include file, it is available to the rest of the page without having to set
caller.xxx to access it. Even so, customtags are suposed to encapsulate
code, much like a CFC or such, so I see the setting and getting of variables
in the caller scope defeats the purpose of having a custom tag.

Personally anything that is reused I convert to a function, except
- Forms
- Stored Procedure calls
- Actions
- Display
- Parameters
They all go into a include file most of the time
