The developer of the caller does not have to worry about code in the tag/module changing information which should be local to the caller.
Oops, didn't really explain myself properly here - it's common to require the caller to provide the names of any variables which the tag/module uses to return values to the caller. I probably should also have pointed out that although I still use tags/modules because I still need to make my apps CF5 compatible, if you can use CFCs, you probably should as these are ideally suited to hiding information which is local to encapsulated code.
