Just a quick note. I'm not sure if this was a change between CF versions.. but to
delete a verity key from a collection that has been put there via a query, ou must
send the key back as a query. You must set the "key" as the field name that contains
the key you wish to delete and pass it the query name. So either do a query to get the
record you want to delete or create a dummy query with just the value.

Just thought I'd let you know because I had an issue where my entries werent deleting
and I was unaware of this 'change' (if it was one ), although I had not used verity
prior to this event.

Gareth.

You can actually delete individual keys from a collection (<cfindex
action="delete" key="...."> - the "key" is available when you find
something using <cfsearch>). The other methods in Verity only have any
real value when you start deleting keys. If you are indexing the file
system the key (from memory) is the complete path to the object. So if
you know what file you are deleting, it should be simple to delete just
that one entry (I have built systems around CF Verity tags that did this).

Deleting it and recreating it is costly - although often the easiest
solution.

Also check out the "update" action as well - lets you add things
incrementally.

I have found the "purge" and "refresh" actions totally unreliable (they do
"something" but not what you think they should do). But that is a
"Verity" thing (even their command line tools behave strangely) not a CF
problem.
