I also recommend milonic however it doesn't do menus "on the fly upon mouseover".

We have not had problems with the size but I guess that would really depend on the size of your menu of course.

Worth a try anyway. They have demos available.

hey everyone,
i have been using V3 of "HierMenus" dhtml menu on our intranet here for almost 3 years now, but due to the growth of the intranet (and subsequent menu growth), the menu is taking up to 5 seconds to load upon each page hit. And it's not just a matter of the page rendering and waiting for the menu to catch up... the page does not load UNTIL the menu is finished loading, so the user sits looking at a white screen for 3-5 seconds each page hit, which is frustrating to say the least (not to mention embarrassing for me as the developer of the site!)
a quick visit to HierMenus Central.com tells me they are almost ready to release V6 of HierMenus which, of all things, has the ability to create menus on-the-fly upon mouse-over, which is exactly what i am looking for. unfortunately it is now a licenced product with a hefty price tag (approx US$1K) so i am now in search of an alternative solution... ie. cheaper solution!
i posted this question a few weeks ago, but did not get a single response, so here goes again.
can anyone recommend a low-cost dhtml menu system that enables on-the-fly menu building upon mouse over that sounds like it might suit me? all i want is a menu that does not hold up page loading. we are 100% IE5+ environment.
thanks,
steve c
