Sorry - i've only ever used it on my own servers.  No experience with shared hosts.
 
You'll probably find it fastest to contact the host directly to see what they say.
 
That said, I'm not sure how they could turn it off...

To test if the gateway is operational, go to
yourdomain.com/flashservices/gateway

If you get a blank page, the gateway is running. If you get a page not
found, it's not running.
