Though Cassie does have a good strategy of not using his real email
address for <cfaussie>, it's how I started getting spam when
there was that glitch with the archive web pages grr... James Macpherson wrote: ---Eeep, Cheer up charlie (or Cassie) :)I was merely trying to clarify why your message appeared to be spam - and I will say that since were in sunny Oz and it had Brisbane mentioned somewhere, makes it much less spammy than most I get, which tends to come from russia, the US or china. On that topic: I think the worst you could do is send an email with the subject "mine.zip", no body, an attachment called "mine.zip" containing two files: mine.exe and mine.c and send it from a webmail address you don't use much. (which I did this morning and miracle of miracles it actually arrived, and was seen just in time with a spamassassin rating of 97.7) From the recipient I recieved an email "how to make your mail look less like spam" which I paraphrased for you previously :) Cheers, James PS Sorry for noising up the list but having problems getting in 'the zone' today so I'm fighting spam on our mailserver.-----Original Message----- From: Australia1976 [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] Sent: Friday, 25 June 2004 3:00 PM To: CFAussie Mailing List Subject: [cfaussie] Re: Contract Job in Brisbane Give it a rest. My name is Cassie. I am a contract developer. I just forgot to put "from Cassie" at the bottom. I don't use my "real" address on this list because I don't want it getting on any lists I don't want it to be on. I keep this hotmail address as a junk one. I was offered this contract job but was too busy, so I thought someone else could benefit from it. Excuse me for trying to be helpful. I didn't include company details or spec because the client doesn't particularly want every development firm in the country knowing what they are doing and having copies of their specification documents. Anyone who emailed me was given full contact details and a spec. If you're not interested then just delete it. ----- Original Message ----- From: "James Macpherson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CFAussie Mailing List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, June 25, 2004 2:32 PM Subject: [cfaussie] Re: Contract Job in Brisbane Although having a numerical name, no given/surname, a hotmail address (with same Australia1976), giving out no details and not even signing your name or anyone elses at the bottom of your posting is a pretty good way of making your post look like spam. Next time make the subject "Re: Your Message" and that'll pretty much complete the picture.
