What a disgusting act. How well do you get on with your neighbours? Your cat might have been doing something they did not take a liking to and decided to act.
I'm assuming your Vet told you it was a deliberate poisoning, and not something that commonly occurs (e.g. eating toxic weeds/plants) Just a thought. Either way, hope Mel makes a full recovery.
