What ever companies do you mean? :) Yeah, I too have been through a few places like that, and usually run by people who also have that mentality -- e.g. expect ridiculous hours from people, and then wonder why they are not happy!
I can kind of understand that in the Web Development industry, where you can no longer charge the large fees (or even realistic fees) for building a Web site. Its become a pretty cutthroat industry in commercial web development in my view, especially in Brisbane. A lot of the smaller Web development companies either got bought out or shut down over the last 2 years. I made the move to enterprise for the same reasons as Scott -- better working conditions and realistic expectations. My 2c.
