no to be fair, MySQL 4.0 is good product (lack of triggers, views etc excepted) and vers 5.0 will be better still (people will legitimately argue that PostgreSQL is even “better” – like the Linux Vs FreeBSD argument). IMHO v3.23 wasn’t much chop.
keep in mind tho, it’s not “enterprise” (high volume industrial strength). if you need that, you should be willing to pay for it (DB2 or Oracle)
the comment probably comes from closed-minded myopic people (like myself) and compared to the database I’m having to use at the moment (Informix) I’d take MySQL anyday….
