Hi

Thanks for that. I was just looking at crystaltech.com and hostmysite.com,
both in the US. I'll check out viviotech.net as well.

By the way, how many cable connections (and other connections) does the
Australian Internet have to the outside world? I heard that there is one
cable joining Australia to the US via Sydney.

Thanks

Subject: [cfaussie] Re: Hosting (preferably in Australia)

Hi Peter,

I use US based hosting,
I used Australian hosting about 5 years back but find US hosting to be
better value, faster (although in theory aussie based hosting should
be faster) and cheaper.
Yes I see using overseas hosting to save costs to be no different then
outsourcing work to India, so yes I feel very ashamed of my self :(.

But then again I couldn't find any company in OZ offering the hosting
I'm after.

I pay roughly $270 AUD a year for my own VPS
It has
Blue dragon CFML 6.1
MY SQL
PHP
JSP
Postgres SQL
Apache web server.
Linux.
Plus more….
All coldfusion tags.

Awesome control panel so I can remove and add any of these features
And I also have access to my own blue dragon Admin login.
Since it's a VPS (virtual private server) I can set up an unlimited
number of websites (currently have 10 domain names set up) well
unlimited meaning until my webspace is used up.

Viviotech.net is the host. (great support)

If you can though, go with an aussie company.

C'mon!!!!!!
