Matthew, Check for a syslog file here:
#your coldfusionmx dir#/verity/collections/#your collection name#/file/ It may contain an error message. My indexing crashes if a pdf file is invalid (non pdf). IRC, too, Verity has a document count limit. Next, I would try dividing the library for indexing to locate the problem by elimination.
