This was one of my biggest disappointments for CF7. Surely a runtime engine should be significantly cheaper then a full implementation of the Enterprise server. MM I think have upset a lot of ppl with this approach, I know they need to recoup the cost of development but sourceless development offerred so much unchartered territory for CF developers. Imagine writing app's that install on client machines in standalone mode, nicely packaged with a java installer. It would open up such a large market for cf developers. Surely MM could write an engine that only runs packaged apps and not raw cfml code and release it cheaply. Would running a development version of CF server allow users to run apps on their own machines in standalone mode? Has anyone tried this? Has anyone enquired with MM about OEM runtime pricing for a large release?
