I use it when spec-ing. i usually do use-case, object relationships,
db schemas and so-on. hell, if i can visually map it i will.

UML annoys sometimes tho because generally you're making documents
that are to be signed off, and 9 times out of 10 the 'signers' won't
understand UML. This means as a tool it's only good for you and
tech-minded people, and you'll still have to dumb the spec down into
management speak.
