I'm very interested, and I laud Matt for his initiative. This sort of thing
is needed. However, time is a huge constraint on this for me right now. I'm
just too swamped with work to be able to allocate any additional time to
just about anything.

Perhaps we could use a team approach? I could possibly build individual
components.

It seems that my answer did not get through the list on sunday (at least, I
haven't received it). So here it is again (sorry if it is a duplicate, but I
have added some more comments).

That's a great initiative.
We could learn a lot by sharing our techniques and experience each one of us
has on CFMX. We have to choose a blueprint application type.

As macromedia.com has already released its ColdFusionMX version of
Petmarket, it might be interesting to propose our own, based on the
methodology/framework we use. The advandatage of using Petmarket is that
there is already all the requirements in terms of interface, design,
functionalities and database. It would save a big amount of time. We would
only have to focus on the architecture of the application. The other
advantage is that Petmarket/Petstore is a typical application to compare
frameworks and technologies. It could be nice to able to show the power of
CFMX to our .NET/J2EE "collegues".

Petmarket already includes some interesting requirements :
- minimal content management (display of categorized products instead of
articles),
- search engine,
- session management (with a cart mechanism),
- flow process and forms (during check out process).

Petmarket does not include some other typical requirements such as
authentication mechanism. But we could add a small "Backoffice" area, to be
able to add or remove products from the database. This would add :
- authentication,
- forms for data/items management.

I propose to build one version of it, based on MVC with CFCs for the model
layer.

It would be nice if someone could build a Fusebox (3/4/MX?) Petmarket
version, in order to be able to compare.

What do you think of Petmarket as a blueprint application?
Who else is interested?
