UNLESS...... your addLeg method does a createObject itself and copies the object passed over into the new object. Why is this the case? Because Cold Fusion is not a fully object-oriented language. Components do not have "constructors" and there is no method "overloading". To be able to pass "objects" by value you need both of these. You need "constructors" because it would need to construct a new object. You need method "overloading" because it would need a "constructor" that could take an object of it's own type to build the deep copy from.
