You were originally on the right track with your ANIMAL and CAGE
references.

Where I think you are tripping yourself up is that you MUST design your
objects first before trying to worry about the actual code inside the box.

Once you get more experience with OOD/OOP you can get away with shortcuts
(because of experience) but really should stick to some VERY strict OO
guidelines early on.

Firstly - know the difference between IS A and HAS A relationships and
also the concept of "collections" of objects.

For example: In the case above, CAGE has a COLLECTION of ANIMAL. This
means that inside CAGE at implementation time you will require a mechanism
to keep multiple animals. In most languages this will translate into an
array (either indexed [using a number to index the array] or associative
[using a key to index the array]) to contain an instance of each ANIMAL (a
COLLECTION of ANIMAL). Or, in the case of an INVOICE, a COLLECTION of
INVOICELINE.

Your CAGE (or INVOICE) class (CFC) would have methods to ADD and REMOVE an
ANIMAL as well as DISPLAY (which - after actually showing each ANIMAL -
would also call a TOTAL method and also display that) the CAGE (or
INVOICE).

NOTE: this is only one way of doing it - but seems to be what others are
suggesting as well.

CFC's are great - and OO in Cold Fusion is great - but you really need to
establish a new design discipline to get the best benefit from it.

Hope that helps.
