G'day Spike Hehheh, yeah, Agent - for all intents and purposes - *hasn't* really been updated since about 1997. Just a few bits of shoe polish and a couple of extra bandaids. But it's what I started using all those years ago, and it does most of what I want, so I've stuck with it. And I've had a half-hearted look @ other options out there, and they all seem to bite.
The only thing that annoys me about Agent is to not be able to configure it to use multiple NNTP feeds for the same groups, or have a group list made up of multiple servers' lists. But I can live without that. The ideas you suggest would certainly be useful, but I don't know of any readers that do that, sorry. I've wanted for a long time to be able to use a news reader rather than email for quite a few lists, but I've never found one that had the features I wanted. Namely: 1. Automatically check feeds for new messages every x minutes 2. Allow me to specify threads I am/am not interested in and notify me of new stuff in threads where I have registered an interest. 3. Provide a decent interface for reading the messages and threads. The closest I've got is 40tude because of it's UI and configurability, but I can't find a way to get it to do points 1 and 2. Last time I looked at Forte Agent it seemed like it hadn't been updated since about 1997, but that was a couple of years ago. Do you or anyone else know of a news agent that has the above features?
