With my utter lack of personal skills compounded by the email media, I don't think I can say "I'm glad I we agree" without it coming across with an implied "you dumbass" at the end, but I don't want that implication.
I don't have anything against "pretyping" your variables, or whatever you want to call it. I personally don't see the benefits, you obviously do. I can't really think of a reason either way, except for the minimal extra load. However, as comes up frequently, performance is way down the list of concerns, long after readability and maintainability, so it's really a moot point.
