One thing to be noted here is that SmartCMS has been in development since about 2000 (in one form or another). As is written in the "History of SmartCMS" [1] : "As of July of 2004 the main line of the SmartObjects Content Server has been moved onto Tigris.org, and has been renamed "SmartCMS". The core of the system is intact" The main chunk of the system has been around for a while, so I'd say Ben's a long way from "starting from scratch" with this! Sure, some of the functionality may already be present in other systems such as FarCry, but as has been pointed out the aim of SmartCMS is different. Also, I know from personal experience that once you've started something, even if someone brings out a piece of software that's ahead of your in development terms, that's certainly no reason to drop what you've been doing. If nothing else there's a certain sense of pride once you've got something finished... :) Tim.
