I'm not sure mappings deserve the "is evil" moniker. I'll take an explicit
mapping (defined in both the CFAdmin and JRun config file) over ColdFusion's
quirky path evaluation any day.

True, but for most people, this is a non-issue. Regardless, I try to limit
my apps to a single root mapping. But almost all my non-trivial apps have at
least one.

Again, true, but so do data sources.

I'm not sure I follow this. Mappings may make it easier, but without sandbox
security, it seems like this is still possible. Perhaps there are a few
exceptions (i.e. applications on different drives).
