I feel your pain Stephen as I just went through this (if you search the archives you'll see a thread on Beans, Transfer Objects, and Business Objects).
The bottom line is that a "Bean" is a very generic term for an object that has getters and setters for it's properties. That's it. So if you have a business object called Employee that does lots of good employee-related processing, but also has getter and setter methods for things like getEmployeeName(), setEmployeeName(), etc...then your Employee object is considered a Bean.
