The benefits are subjective... but I will tell you that there are several benefits that several CF developers have talked about at large. These benefits are connected and not stand alone benefits... but for those that have used it the difference is apparently the best thing to date for web development.
1. Active Records 2. Automated CRUD form generation 3. Automated Object creation/generation 4. Round trip updates 5. Minimal manual coding (which is one of the beauties of CF, that's why we use CFCs and Custom Tags... it's just taking things another level.) There are many other smaller but VERY significant things it offers. One of the best things is that it isn't trying to be an everything solution but rather is speed common development issues. More can be said... but this is a start of conversation if anyone is interested. There are many thoughts on the topic... but the bottom line is in about one year the community has grown to be reported as active competition for size with CF. I don't plan to leave CF at all... but it seems a no brainer that we should build something that has the advantages that exist in Rails. In fact my vision is to be able to build a generator of sorts that provides the advantages of rails... but with plugin modules that would allow the output (generated code and forms, etc.) to be used in Fusebox, Mach-ii... or whatever place someone who has a methodology might want to use them. I've heard this brought up a few times, and I'm wondering what parts of Rails people are after. -Joe On 9/22/05, John Farrar <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > I am here again trying to find out who would be interested in getting some > of the benefits for this app in the CF world.
