I checked with them... and they apparently do support it. Yet the support
staff was detached and quite rude. (no names needed... because he told me
the excuse was it was their policy) Apparently they have people who try to
use rewrite to point multiple domains at a site. I declared my reason right
in the start and found they seem to be loosing some of the original humanity
and customer respect that made them great. Seems to me they are becoming
players and are starting down a less customer responsive road. Makes me
nervous about going with them. I would be willing to pay a little more for
what I am looking for if needed.

uncomment this line in config file...
LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

Took me a half an hour to get that out of them... perhaps the time it took
is what frustrated me to start with... but then to be countered with the
comment about abusing the rules is just not right.

Thanks just the same... hosted with them in past and the experience was much
better. Perhaps this is just a stage.
