It can be done... but you usually have to purchase a database with the information.  Unfortunately, I don't know how to purchase the data for Canada.   When I was at ArsDigita (http://www.arsdigita.com) they had purchased databases that covered zipcodes in the entire united states so that they could match zip codes of wineaccess.com's customers with local wine stores.   Check out http://www.wineaccess.com/pvt/my-wineaccess.tcl for an example (it is US zip codes only).
