Hi, Ray (and Dan)
Offhand, I'm not sure what's going on. However, looking at the
screenshot, Chandler.app has clearly been copied into /Applications,
so it's not a case of running it out of the .dmg(*).
To figure out what's going on, there's a log file that should have
more information. To get it, go to the Finder, bring up the "Go To
Folder..." dialog (in the "Go" menu), and enter the string
~/Library/Open Source Applications Foundation/Application Support/
Chandler/
Inside that folder will be a folder called XXXXXXX.default, where
XXXXXXX is a string of random characters. Inside that folder will be
a file called "chandler.log": if you could mail that back to me or
Dan, we can try figure out more. You could also try moving aside the
Chandler folder above (i.e. renaming it); that will cause Chandler to
rebuild its database from scratch when relaunched.
Thanks,
--Grant
(*) So far as I can tell, the "cryptic error" advice applies to
Chandler 0.4; it hasn't been a problem for me since then.

I've now gotten a second message from this user and he still can't
start Chandler.
Would some developers look at this error and see if they can tell
whats going wrong?

Hi Ray,
Sorry you are having trouble with your Chandler install. The
error you sent looks like the cryptic error you get when you don't
drag the Chandler app out of the .dmg disk image. The
instructions on the download page are:
>>Download to your desktop, double-click it, and it will unpack
the Chandler application.
>>Drag the Chandler application icon to your desktop or somewhere
else on your file system.
>>Next, double-click the Chandler application icon.
>>(If you try to doubleclick on the Chandler icon without copying
it from the .dmg disk image, Chandler will give you a cryptic error.)
We have made significant changes since the 0.6.1 release. My
recommendation would be to download the newer 0.7alpha3 release
from here:
http://downloads.osafoundation.org/chandler/milestones/0.7alpha3/
Make sure you use the right download depending on whether you have
an Intel mac or not. (If you don't know choose 'About this Mac'
from the apple menu)
Let me know if you still have problems after trying this.
Thanks for trying Chandler
Dan
