I wanted to throw this out on the list for discussion. Currently when we install Chandler, a README.<OS> file gets installed. In past releases, I have simply provided Bear with the text to go in such a file. Below, I have pasted what was in the README.osx for 0.6. The linux and windows versions were basically identical. As you can see, there isn't much info and we basically just provide a link to the launch page.

Once again, I am tasked with updating these files for Preview. I wanted to see if people thought we should simply keep this brief (like we have before) or consider adding more content in this file ie: description of product features and perhaps copying some content from the landing page in case people don't have internet access and can't get at the link. If we were to provide more info, what else should we consider putting in this file?

Thanks,
Sheila

Chandler README.osx
-------------------

* Compatibility *

Chandler only runs under Mac OSX 10.3 (Panther).

* Running Chandler *

To run chandler, first open the .dmg image and drag the Chandler application
icon to your desktop or somewhere else on your filesystem.

Next, double-click the Chandler application icon. (If you try to doubleclick on the Chandler icon without copying it from the .dmg disk image, Chandler
will give you a cryptic error.)

* Latest Release *

We have recently released 0.6, our experimentally usable calendar. For more details go to...
