I think it is a good idea to do this. That said I am a little unsure if I understand all the ways you will be able start Chandler with after this change, Heikki mentioned

./release/RunPython -O Chandler.py

but presumably there are other ways as well. I confess complete ignorance of knowing what it means to "use the launchers". Can someone describe what options will be available to start Chandler after this change, or point me towards documentation of this?

thanks

I have modified tools/do_tests.sh, tools/regress.py, utils/autolog.py and a couple of references in comments to RunChandler. Grant noticed a reference in the feeds tutorial and was kind enough to edit that reference.

So, with no negative replies and all references to RunChandler (that I have found :) removed - I will be removing them from the launchers tarball and updating chandler to use the new version.

thanks,

As part of the work we have done to/with rt.py and with the changes to bring the Chandler launchers up to spec the RunChandler scripts are technically not needed anymore.

I have a bug filed to remove them, but I wanted to check with the dev team that it was ok to remove them before acting on the bug.

so, please respond yea or nay to this proposal:

Remove from the 0.7 trunk the RunChandler scripts knowing that their functionality is handled by ./chandler[.sh | .bat | .exe]. Also realize that the RunPython scripts will remain for developer use.

Please respond by the end of the day Thursday, July 12th.

thanks,
