Posting to the chandler-dev to resolve this issue.
We had one of the users report a discrepancy in our migration
instructions where we don't handle the case of users migrating from
0.7 alpha5 to 0.7.0.1.
The instructions as they appear in here : http://chandlerproject.org/
Projects/MigrationInstructions
talk about exporting data using File >> "Export Collections and
Settings, which didn't exist in alpha5. We instead had File >> "Dump
Items To File..."
So should the right instructions for users migrating from alpha5 be:
1. Export your data using File >> "Dump items to file..". This will
create a dump file of all the data (items, collections, accounts,
sharing URLs and application settings) into a .dump file.
2. Rename the file with extension .chex
3. Reload the data into 0.7.0.1 version of Chandler using the menu,
File>>Reload Collections and Settings... and select the .chex file
saved above.
I just tried the above and it seemed for work for a very minimal set
of data but since this workflow hasn't been exhaustively tested, I
would like to hear if there any potential cases where this would fail.
The other safer but less ideal approach is to suggest users backup/
reload their data using ics export/import. This would not reload
their settings, shared collections etc which would definitely be less
appealing.
Any thoughts which way to go?

Subject: [chandler-users] Migration Instructions to v0.7.1 from
v0.7alpha5
Reply-To: Questions and help for the Chandler suite of products
<[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
Hi Chandler People...
I managed to save everything from v0.7alpha5 and restore it
successfully to the new v0.7.1 version.
The only hitch is in the migration instructions themselves.
Perhaps others have mentioned it, but
v0.7alpha5 produces .dump, not .chex files, and the option to do
that is File >> "Dump Items To File..."
rather than File >> "Export Collections and Settings", as
described in the instructions.
Since I didn't see an option to output a .chex file, I used the
"Dump Items To File" *and* the "Export"
options to write out both .dump and .ics files, just in
case .dump was no longer supported. Yeah,
this is a nit, but it might be worth updating the migration
instructions to clear this up.
Thanks;
