Well, maybe "everything works" was a slight exaggeration. :-)
I can reproduce your problem under Gutsy: a Swedish Chandler initally
does not the use the Swedish word "Avbryt" but "Cancel etc. Switching
languages again fixes this - but only until the next re-start of Chander.
I have tried but do NOT see the same thing under Leopard or XP. My dev
machine has a similar setup: a Macbook Pro with Swedish Leopard settings
(though I sometimes use English installed). My Fusion virtual machines
(for Gutsy, XP etc) can use both English and Swedish - but I test
localization using Swedish settings everywhere.

suggestion: to help less sofisticated users, perhaps double-clicking the
installer should install menu alternatives or desktop icons pointing at
the start script?
I tested the .deb on Gutsy under an account that has been set up to use
Finnish. Chandler started in Finnish, *except* that the stock wxWidgets
labels were still in English. For example, when I bring up the Accounts
dialog, the Cancel button still reads "Cancel" in the Finnish version
(should say "Peru"). Note that I have this computer configured to use
both English and Finnish, but that specific account and session to use
Finnish only.
This happens even if I use -l fi command line option.
I can make the language switch complete by using the switch language
menu. However, there is an interesting "feature" when switching to
language that the UI is already (possibly partially) running in: the
dialog says Chandler will restart on language switch, in this case it
does not restart and there is no feedback that anything happened.
Does anyone else see this, maybe on other platforms?
