Although there certainly is a bit of configuration and admin overhead,
I've thought for awhile that a forum would be helpful for new (and
long-time) users. Sure, one can search the list archives today, but it
can be hit or miss, particularly for new users uncertain about what
keywords would be best. A forum tends to self-organize by topic. A forum
can also provide a more accessible arena for gathering feedback, both
laurels and darts. A new landing page suggest, anyway, an opportunity to
add a forum. It could replace the user list eventually to the extent
that the forum tool would be able to permit registrants to subscribe to
alerts and digests from forum topics. All quite typical tool sets found
every more often around the net.

Here is pass 1 at a new landing page / product tour (feature list) and
quick start guide.
This is by no means DONE. I imagine we will continuously tweak and
improve this. Currently, there is still a lot that's missing, including:
- Link to Log in from the landing page
- User Stories and User Quotes on the landing page
- An end-to-end story of how we guide users from download thru setting
up to share
- Review of Quick Start Guide instructions
- Screenshots of nifty new separate detail view in Product Tour and
Feature List
I also need help figuring out how to put the product tour screenshots in
a slideshow that I can control. Currently, I'm using flickr, but it
doesn't seem to allow me to show the screens at full size (640x480) nor
does it allow me to control the speed of the slideshow (it's way to fast
right now!).
You can see the new product tour
here: http://chandlerproject.org/Notes/ProductTour
The landing page is attached as a zip file at the top.
