Sincerely, Jeffrey Although philosophically I agree 100% with Jeffrey, Mimi's suggestion comes very close - it's reminiscent of good old DateBk5 for Palm, where each event had an 'advance' checkbox. Ticking it prompted the user for a 'number of days advance' figure. A separate 'floating event' was thus created, which was automatically deleted when the original event date arrived. In Chandler, the 'float' would ideally be treated as a completely separate item, allow you to have an event in your calendar, and a corresponding starred item task to buy the gift/book the ticket/feed the cat.
