Thanks Fritz :-) Historically, <http://chandlerproject.org/pub/Projects/NutshellCartoons/Chandler_as_a_Platform.pdf>(November 2005, from amongst the cartoons at <http://chandlerproject.org/Projects/NutshellCartoons>) pages 2 and 3 offered a vision of extensibility.
