The UW Clinical Informatics Research Group (CIRG) has an opening for a
part-time student (undergrad or RA) Interaction Designer/Front-end Web
Designer. CIRG builds open source, web-based clinical and public
health information systems. Our work ranges from laboratory
information systems used in developing countries to patient-reported
outcome tools for cancer and HIV patients.

Depending on the skills and interests of the student, the
responsibilities of the position could range from redesigning the CIRG
site, to working on web apps for us-based or global health settings,
to conducting remote usability studies.

Hours are flexible. Looking for a motivated, problem-solving student
with skills in some (or all) of these areas:

Front-end web design and development - HTML/CSS/Javascript
UI/UX design and prototyping - Mock-up and build interaction with a
focus on improving user experience and employing best practices.
Usability research and testing - Work with CIRG team on evaluating
current systems and developing strategies usability testing,
particularly with remote locations.
Content strategy and writing - Remake CIRG’s public-facing information
site. Write about our various projects in a way that’s appealing to
potential funders, collaborators, etc.
Graphic design - Assist in updates visual elements of CIRG software &
various project web sites.

Interest in healthcare and clinical informatics systems is a plus.
Should be a great opportunity for hands-on experience in variety of
areas.

This position is available now with funding through summer. Depending
on success of the student and future funding, it could be extended
into the next school year.
