Hello Ashish,

Welcome to the Chapel community!

I think the 'Try Chapel Online' project could make an excellent GSoC project.
Based on discussions in the IRC channel, it sounds like you're already making
good headway.

This is our first time as a GSoC organization, so this will be a bit of a
learning experience for us as well.

In case you haven't seen this in the application instructions - please be sure
to fill out, sign, and send us an ICLA
(https://github.com/chapel-lang/chapel/tree/master/doc/developer/contributorAgreements),
so that we are able to accept your future pull requests on GitHub.

Thank you for introducing yourself to the developer community. We look forward
to getting to know you better and helping you get started with Chapel!

Best,
Ben

Subject: [Chapel-developers] [GSoC] - Introductory mail - Project: Try Chapel
Online

Hello everyone

I came across the project Try Chapel Online project under the Compatibility
section on [1]. I would like to take this project forward and create an online
text editor + code runner for the Chapel language. The code runner would
execute programs in a safe environment.

I have some ideas regarding how to proceed for this challenge and would like to
discuss them. I have worked on a similar project before as well therefore I
have an idea of the roadmap this project would take.

As for some introduction,

  1. I am a second year student at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee
(IIT Roorkee) in Electronics and Communication engineering.
  2. I work as developer in a campus group SDSLabs [2] and admin of Backdoor
[3]. Most of my humble experience comes from coding for SDSLabs.
  3. I am fluent in python, javascript and comfortable in writing php, java,
and a some C++ as well.

I have a blog at my personal website [4] where I write frequently about my
experiences with software development. My github profile [5].

This is the first time I am participating in GSoC and given that this project
is very well aligned with my interest, I would like to work on it.

I go by the name tocttou on IRC.

Waiting for your response!
