As a person who is lazy, if the messages do not appear in my email,
they do not exist. groups.io seems fine (I am on the Pony users list),
googlegroups seems fine (as long as it keeps going), Slack is just an
IRC-like system from my usage with various groups and so for me is not
something I use because you have to go to it like any forum (I
certainly do not use these unless they have an email interface, except
when I have to submit something to the GtkD community).

From what I can see there are those who love forums and those who hate
them.

For any email list a major consideration is: is it well indexed by
Google, Bing, Duck Duck Go, etc.
