Hi Chapel Developers -

Just a heads up:

I recently changed the behavior of the Chapel compiler to
use a default program name based upon the main module (which
usually matches the .chpl file name, for simple cases). We
discussed this change in issue #6283 and PR #6811 implemented
the change. Nonetheless if you haven't been following master
closely and don't read commit logs, you might be surprised
at some point if you don't know about this change.

Any developer that wants to opt-in to the old behavior
can do so by setting:

  export CHPL_EXE_NAME=a.out

in which case a -o option to the chpl command line
will override the environment variable, but the
environment variable will set the default executable
name.

Cheers,

-michael
