If you read the "Contractor Conformity" document on the city public works website, you'll see that it mandates both vibration and rat control, in addition to many other details. So nearby neighbors might want to bring their problems of things falling off of shelves to the attention of the city (public works, city councilperson).
The document says: "Contractor will at all times monitor construction vibrations with two seismographs. If vibrations exceed specification levels, Contractor must alter method of construction." "Public Works, Solid Waste, Housing, Health and the Mayor's Office of Neighborhoods [have] developed and placed in effect a rat baiting and control program in the affected communities. In addition, the City has developed a public educational outreach program for Rodent Control." You neighbors should have heard about these things. You might want to hold the city and the contractors to their agreement.
