Some of that is because I hardcode the names of the input and output
files into the code, so that I can stay within the J session.

And you are right, I should have copied and pasted the output for the
sample cases rather than trusting my eyes and fingers.

That said, elegance has to do with how well the language and recent
activities fits the problem design, as much as anything else. Given
the nature of many of the code jam problems, I should really spend
some time doing some alpha beta pruning work, since a number of the
code jam problems seem to be designed around that kind of approach.
And if I had a drop-in framework for that kind of thing, I would be
much better equipped for the time constraints of the contest.

(That, along with quite a variety of other things which I should be
doing with my time... I should really be spending some time planting a
garden, building a 3d printer, making music, spending time with my
family, reading, studying, etc. etc....)
