I would certainly be interested in following discussion/development of a J
solution for this problem, although my own J skills are likely to be too
limited to be of much help.

If a complete thread were recorded in some publicly accessible form I think
it would make a valuable learning tool, documenting how J can be used to
address a problem from conception to implementation.
