I've only been running FreeNet a little while now. I use build 629
which is the Debian 'freenet-unstable' edition built and packaged by
Rob Bihlmeyer.

I don't have a lot of content to contribute to FreeNet, however I'd
like to see if I can better focus my system resources to support the
pages I like, such as The Freedom Engine, many of the anonymous
blogs, non-racial politics, and the 'banned' book sites.

Currently, I've dedicated 20 gigs to the FreeNet cache on a relatively
high-speed DSL and I'm setting up a spidering agent to run during
low-traffic hours, crawling a link deep on each of the sites I like.

What else can I do to help make some of these sites faster for myself
and others?

One thought is to experiment with setting up a second freenet node on
another set of ports to empty the cache and spider each night. My
thinking is that this would increase the accessibility of these links
'net-wide, not just in my own cache.

Any other tricks?

Also, so I don't step on any toes here, is it inappropriate to try to
fortify the content you most believe in? I'm afraid that many of these
pages aren't accessed frequently, but are of more interest to
attracting new FreeNet readers and contributors than much of the
commodity fetish, music and similar traffic. The latter already seems
accessible on most every node and wouldn't suffer significantly from
helping the competing materials.
