Apart from running a permanent node on a good connection (which you're already doing), that's probably the best way to propagate content that you didn't publish. One of the tricks the developers have been working on is "healing" of FEC split-files by re-inserting the whole splitfile (including redundant FEC information) once you've downloaded the minimum required number of blocks. Look for this in the next few weeks/months. Of course, this only applies to larger files, not to typical index.html and ActiveLink.gif files. > Also, so I don't step on any toes here, is it inappropriate to try to > fortify the content you most believe in? Of course it's not inappropriate. Survival of Freenet is a meritocracy, and if you don't request what you like, it won't be there. A bit of "network spamming" seems to be par for the course. Even if someone felt this to be unethical, there's absolutely nothing they could do about it. Assume that your "enemies" are working to propagate whatever you don't like -- because they probably are. This is your chance to fight back. :) -- Greg Wooledge | "Truth belongs to everybody." [EMAIL PROTECTED] | - The Red Hot Chili Peppers http://wooledge.org/~greg/ |
