The problem is, it's not the government that doesn't want us doing something, it's those corporations which stand to lose money if we do. They bribe the congress for laws designed to prevent their mistakes from harming them. In particular, their mistake was investing huge sums of money on the assumption that the technological status quo would not change. There are laws against bribing Congress, but somehow they don't get enforced. What happens is "not bribery" for some reason. I Wonder why? Some supporters of Freenet say copyright is just an innocent bystander in the fight for free speech. Others of us see copyright applied to individuals rather than businesses as an evil which must be eliminated and support freenet for that reason. Kiddie porn is a minor issue compared to the copyright problem. For that, I think there will be a technological solution which will make it less easy to find on Freenet, so that no one without an ax to grind will think node operators are liable. Regarding the copyright problem, come and get us. We aren't going to give up without a fight.
