Thx

Loadstarsensors are $1200 for the first one and then $350

Omron seems to have interesting scales

I have seen them priced as low as $30 so the it should be possible to get
sensors for something like $10 as I was hoping.
The prices of digital scales with USB connetions have been unbelievably
expensive.
I hear they are charging $10000 for a single scale.

So this Omron scale seems to be a revolution in this area.

After discovering Omron and its prices I phoned again to the people selling
the $10000 scales and they said that Omron was just a piece of garbage or at
least must be because if it costed a lot less than the sensors they could
buy.

I guess I try to get a hold of one Omron scale with an USB connection and
see how it works.

The graph in this page
http://www.healthgoods.com/shopping/health_and_fitness_products/body_fat_analyzers.asp
is basically what I wanted to do in J and maybe still will do if I can get
the kg data in

The calculations are simple

Child Body Fat % = (1.51 x BMI) - (0.70 x Age) - (3.6 x gender) + 1.4

Adult Body Fat % = (1.20 x BMI) + (0.23 x Age) - (10.8 x gender) - 5.4

where male gender= 1, female=0.

BMI = kilograms per meter squared

Only need to register time and kg

Adults Women Men
anorexia < 17.5
underweight <19.1 <20.7
in normal range 19.1-25.8 20.7-26.4
marginally overweight 25.8-27.3 26.4-27.8
overweight 27.3-32.3 27.8-31.1
very overweight or obese >32.3 >31.1
severely obese 35 - 40
morbidly obese 40 - 50

That made me wonder how they can claim such obscene prices for a few lines
of code on the $10000 scales that are only doing these calculations.

If you really want to mesure fat in the body you need to have a scale that
measures the body covered in water as well as dry measurement
