Since we are on the topic, I should throw in: I carried a CE phone for a few years provided by my employer. I acquired it around the time I took up J, a little over 2 years ago and of course jumped on the chance to put J in my pocket.
My experience exceeded all expectations. I would have emphatically denied that it was possible to do useful, meaningful programming with my thumbs but here I was, productive in a matter of minutes. I was easily able to email/chat programs and run them on my linux (at home) my mac (work) or the PCs that my friends had. and have them all just work. On one occasion, after the device had been re-imaged (it is CE, after all), I was able to download J, install it and complete a program I was working on in the 30 minutes it took me to get home on the bus..
