We call this the "elevator conversation":
You meet someone in an elevator. 
You try to tell him what x is about
during the elevator ride.  For example:  

J is an array programming language.
It uses symbols instead of words.  The basic
object is an array.  J has functions and operators.
Operators are like adverbs in English and
give a lot of power.  Functions apply to
entire arrays.  For example in 3+A it----
oops elevator door opens and the ride is over.

You hope that you have said enough to
get the guy interested enough that he'd
Google the x that you talked about.
