I had a somewhat different experience with OpenSUSE 64 11.1. When the hard drive on my Gateway MT6456 notebook died a few months ago, I replaced it with one twice as large. I configured it as dual boot with Vista 32 on 1/2 of the drive and OpenSUSE 64 11.1 on the other 1/2.
I used the the current NVIDIA support at the time via YAST and it worked first time for me after the download and install.
